every year i have a little soiree - about 20 or so ppl, usually quite an interesting mix.
tomorrow i'm going to shake it up a little more.
everyone are friends of mine, but tomorrow i suspect i may be pushing the bounds and limits - but being heritage day, all bets are off, and everything local is fair game !

so amongst the mix is a diagonal neighbor known to be the county's most reclusive billionaire.
an ex constitutional court judge.
2 members of parliament
a pair of gangsters (interestingly, not the parliamentarians)
and an outlandish drag queen

the music playlist is equally alarming !!
should be a fun, but interesting afternoon

I know you're still getting used to tech, being an Anglo-Boer war vet, but there is software available that auto updates all tags in your music library.

Needs more Worsie Visser and 'Mama Thembu's Wedding'

I will be interested to hear how this collaboration of society "braai" together.

Tomorrow we are going to celebrate the day with a family walk somewhere (for exercise and fresh air (yes, in the ugly smog of Joburg)) and buying some braai meat for a quiet time as a family (just 4 of us, yes). I am looking forward to this beautiful day.

Tomorrow, I shall harness the energy produced when logs of wood are ignited. Me and my SO, not sure who else might stumble in.

I can smell that one of the neighbours have already started braai'ing

I’m interested in the logistics around something like this. Just in general, Since I don’t imagine these are the types that pour their own drinks.

We didn’t do anything today (my wife and I have been sick since the weekend), but we’re hosting a potjie on Saturday hopefully.

Typically everyone brings their own coolers with their drinks of choice. The first guy to pitch up to my farm helps me set up. Two fires, one for kuier and one for kole. Using a spade to transfer coals.

I provide the skenkels and the rest for the pot (250g or so meat per person is about right, but I always add a bit).

Others bring cheese wors or bacon and cherry sosaties for starters which we braai next to the pot. Everyone has input into what should and shouldn’t go into the pot, but it somehow has always worked so far. People argue about who should be paired to the bluetooth.

For the people that outlast the braai I take a bottle (or two) of Jaegermeister out of the freezer and they invariably end up sleeping over.

So, in general terms like that, how was today?

They obviously didnt break the braai record because I cant find any articles about it :(
