Good day good people

I have a rather weird problem.

From the period exactly from 18:40 till like 21:45 there is a sharp increase in latency during the evening but not on everything that feels like a shaping kind of thing due to congestion. I just need a opinion because the Herotel NOC cant even seem to find anything wrong although we have all the evidence.

Me and a friend monitor all the Herotel hops with smokeping..

It obviously goes from myself to the gateway that is: 10.13.0.98. Smokeping shows nothing wrong with the gateway.

The next jump is where things get interesting namely: 10.13.246.61.

I am going to include a screenshot of this IP monitored with smokeping:

Now I going to zoom in:

As you can clearly see a pattern emerges each evening on this IP and this is when the trouble begins.

During the day this IP is stable at 13.5ms but in the evening it shoots up to almost 160ms. After 22:00 this connection is fine with nothing wrong. My speed is constant but latency increases.

Can anybody comment what in heavens sake is going on?

Thanks.

There's latency on that specific link.

If you can set up a smokeping, you can probably speak mikrotik and know your way around linux.

snmpwalk that router and the router before it. You may get lucky with default values ;) You may need to become creative...

Once you can pull data, run it into something like PRTG, LibreNMS, Observium (kills VMs) or set up an instance of Dude to interrogate the router.

You'll probably find that one of the links on the router flatlines during proverbial netflix hour.

It could be something as stupid as a 1Gb wireless link only syncing at 100Mb to the router. Or it could be something much more complicated.
