I have a 2005 Corsa C 1.7cdti with a Z17DTH and have 2 issues at the moment. I have changed the cam/timing belt and now there is a whining noise coming from the front end, I may have put the fan/serpentine belt on incorrectly, redid both belts and noise is still there. The second issue is that the engine take a while to start, then runs for a few seconds, stalls and takes a long time to start. Then either runs well the rest of the day, or stalls a hundred meters down the road and takes a long time to start, and runs okay after that. Tomorrow same problem.

I don't know about the other issues but whining is usually a bad pulley bearing. You can get a diagram for the belt online, there is no way of getting it wrong with a diagram because the system is self tensioning unlike older belt systems.

Hi Champ. Thanks for the advise, I did check the pulley bearings with a stethoscope, and with my limited knowledge they sound okay I guess.

Hi all.
FYI, turns out it was the tensioner. I replaced the idler, tensioner with it's idler and the belt, and got the noise. I tried a few things and nothing worked until I put back the old belt and tensioner. this resolved the noise issue. After checking the tensioner I noticed the new one moved alot more when released to tension. I set the new tensioner to the more or less the same possision when tensioned, and problem solved.
Hope this helps someone, now on to the stalling issue.
