Hey Fella's,

I have been using what I call a "purse" braai for a very long time. It's one of those portable ones you fold out. Now Im actually building a braai area and still like the idea of a semi portable braai placed on top of a table rather than fully built in.

I very much like the idea of a Hibachi (havent used one before though), but recognize it's not that big. The other option is an "insert" braai, which can also be mounted onto a table.

There is a large Hibachi, around 57cm long which is bigger than usual, but I wonder how much of a pain it will be to clean out compared to a regular braai with ash pan.

Has anyone got experience with a Hibachi? What is your view? Pro's Cons?

If space allows I would still build a brick braai. It serves many more purposes like taking the smoke up and out higher with the chimney, wind shield, making a bigger fire to stare at or keep warm, keeping the mess in a easy place, keeping a sudden rainfall from ruining the fire, wood storage etc.

You can still use the small braai inside it for when you just braaing for yourself.

The reason I dont want to build up a big braai, which is why im considering a smaller one is that a large braai would block my view of the garden. So I want to build more of a brick / concrete platform with space to insert a smaller braai. Then I can look over the table / braai and enjoy the garden view.
