Need to replace one of the D4 HID bulbs in my Corolla. The spares shop nearby has the D4S, is there a difference between the two?

From the pics and the D4 having an anti glare cover on, I would assume one is for reflector headlights and the other for projector? You would potentially blind oncoming traffic with a D4S bulb in a D4 housing. Same with H7 / H7r bulbs.

This is purely a guess from my side.

I noticed that cover as well on the original bulb so not sure. It's the low beam bulb at the center that needs replacing.

This may also help- seems they may not be interchangeable from a fitment perspective.

Couldn't find reasonably priced OEM D4R so went with after market version - R450 for two bulbs. Philips and Osram were priced at around R1125 per bulb.
