Hi there

I recently purchased a 40 inch LCD Full HD TV from Hifi Corp, ByD:syn is the "brand"

I noticed quite soon after firing it up, that explosions looked odd and all orange in colour.
also when lighting in any scene is fairly dim, there appears to be ghosting... and in general the image appears a little blocky.

Does anyone else have this TV... are you happy with it?... Is this normal behaviour for a LCD TV?

Please let me know your thoughts.
 
Yes and no, yes they do have more vibrant colours - adjust this to your liking as when you take it out the box it's normally at some odd settings.
Ghosting - Is an artifact of older LCD panels that have a response time excess of 8ms, so the pixels don't clear fast enough.
Blocky - The conversion from the SD image to the HD image is going to cause blockiness, it depends on the TV's processing engine to clean it up or not, on Plasmas and LCD's you are always going to get a bit of blockiness it just depends on how much I guess.
 
bought one...sent it in a couple of days later. after a few minutes the speakers start crackling and the screen gets "green type refreshing" lines looks quite bad.... still waiting....

ByD:syn is Sansui (the Sansui brand has been dropped). I got a HiSense from HiFi and did notice the difference in picture quality between the two brands, my HiSense rocks yet both where the same price.
 
So I'm not imaging the bad picture quality.

Never knew that ByD:syn is / was Sansui... if only I knew this before buying it.

Hifi would not consider doing a swop out for the Hisense then would they?

Guess not. :-(

I should have gone with my gut at the time, and paid a little more for brand that I knew,
like a samsung or sony.

So disappointed.
