Higgs boson found!

Surely if a new particle is discovered, the models must all be revised to account for the new known particle, and the theory on what unknown particles may still exist will be adjusted. The description of the expected bosun-higgs may therefore also be revised.

If this turns out to not be the SM Higgs Boson, then that is correct, they would need to be updated, which is why this discovery is pretty huge whether it's the Higgs or not.

So are the textbooks going to change now?

You gotto love that saying. Regardless of what it is, its something new, so yes books needs to change but that's the nature of science the books get updated all the time.

Its not a religion where people keep the same book and just change the translation.

Gerber has you covered:

Apocalypse-Kit.jpg

um.... ja..but no. what am I gonna do with a pocket knife against a zombie/s? grenades and flame throwers is what I need!

ps: check this out, the centre for disease control has a page for surviving the zombie apocolypse
http://blogs.cdc.gov/publichealthmatters/2011/05/preparedness-101-zombie-apocalypse/

pps: sorry for derailment of the thread, but considering all the scaremongering about finding the 'god' particle and the destruction of the universe its supposed to cause...

You truly are an expert in the art of trolling. I think this post has earned the stamp of approval

Naaa that is not trolling, if I was trolling I would make you read jokes like this one.

I was stating that science books change all the time, so asking if we need to change the textbooks was kind of a dumb question.

Edit: in fact its just as stupid as saying scientists need to go back to the drawing board.

So all the hoo-ha is about something they found that potentially resembles something that may or may not exist?

Makes perfect sense.
