Surely if a new particle is discovered, the models must all be revised to account for the new known particle, and the theory on what unknown particles may still exist will be adjusted. The description of the expected bosun-higgs may therefore also be revised.

If this turns out to not be the SM Higgs Boson, then that is correct, they would need to be updated, which is why this discovery is pretty huge whether it's the Higgs or not.

The Standard Model validated.

They suspect its been found.... and this is not the first time they think they have found it. Only testable experimentation will be able to confirm this. "Higgs boson found" seems like an over reaching statement until they can confirm the discovery.
