Hi there

I have a BIG problem. my CPU temp gets very high when printing. goes up to 105C. When I run Prime95 it goes up to 52C

Specs is
MSI g31
Intel q8200 stock cooler and Zalman thermal paste
4gb ddr2 800mhz ram

So if prime95 doesn't bring it up to 105C then there must be something else happening.

O before I forgot. The temp monitors (speedfan, dual core center) goes immediately to 105c

The temp monitors (speedfan, dual core center) goes immediately to 105c

So it's an immediated jump from say 50C to 105C with no variation in between?

Sound like a software issue if the above is the case.

i'd think if it were a true temp, the pc would shutdown (if you have left your hardware monitoring enabled in your bios)

Some core2 cpu's do not report the correct temp when using software.

I have yet to find software that monitor my temp's correct, my q9550 @ 3.7ghz reports 25 in my bios with the cold nights but not a single program i have tried reports idle temps below 40.

For starters set the BIOS threshold temperature for the CPU at something like 65-70C. If the CPU ever reaches those temps the alarm bells will go off via the pc speaker. Should be one long continues beep.
