Other than that, I can't think of a reason why a PSU could affect the CPU temperature...

I upgraded from a 320w PSU to a 585w PSU and have had an overall drop of +-30C through my system, that's a drop in temp on CPU, GFX, system and HDD's and a hell of a lot quiter, old PSU was running fans at top speed!
