Hi, two months ago I took out an mtn USB Internet package for 1G a month. On my previous provider I never used more than a gig in a month. I don't download movies or any big files. Just normal usage. Since using mtn I have used over 2gigs a month and paying a fortune for the out of bundle amount. I hav turned off all the automatic updates on my computer. Yet some days it show 400megs hav downloaded when I literally just log on. Hav tried asking mtn for reason why it could happen with no luck. Does anyone know if the fault cld b the USB modem or whether its something else? Any suggestions appreciated! Paying Over R400 instead of the R79 I signed up for is bankrupting me.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news: Updates for A/V, Microsoft, Java, etc. can easily add up to over a gig. Might be you downloaded a Microsoft Service Pack or automatic software updates for your hardware.
First step is to switch off Windows Automatic Updates (control panel/system and security/windows update/change settings), then look at switching off A/V automatic updates.
Other than that, make sure you're not running any P2P or torrents in the background.

Sorry about the OOB shark attack. Good luck sorting it out.
