I'm guessing this is probably more of a software issue but I'll post it here anyway and see what happens.

I just installed Windows 8 which is great, I've really not got any complaints so far.

EXCEPT

My VTX3D 6970 2gb is recording 86+% usage on idle, all the frickin time. It's driving temps up to 80c and I'm totally baffled. I'm using the latest possible drivers and the only relevant information I can find out via Google is here, which looks very similar to my problem - including the disable via device manager and restart fix. I'm guessing it's a driver issue but just want to know if anyone else here has experienced this.

Ta!

Bump that up to the 12.11 drivers or reinstall your current ones and clean out your registry. I saw slightly higher GPU use on the 12.9 drivers I used when I was testing Windows 8 and 12.10 fixed my issues.

Hi There,
I also saw a post elsewhere last week that was indicating this problem. Updating to the latest drivers is something you should look at doing after a new release of an OS. It does take some time for driver providers to get up to date with the latest OS.

Regards

Tim

I am running 12.9 because anything else is just a bunch of shyte. Hogs all my gpu power and i cannot play games without big frame drop so i rollled back to 12.9 and it's chilled.

I will try again some other time but .10 and .11 for me were bad. .9 hit the sweet spot.

You could be right, I'll try this tonight.
