Hi all

I know the SAT 3 cable is up to **** latley, is this still broken ??? Reason I am asking is cause I am getting a high latency locally now.
Was this problem not supposed to be fixed yesterday.

Got high local and international latency last night. This morning getting terribly high international latency. The duration of this whole maintenance thing is becoming unacceptable.

What exactly is going on? I've being trying to download a few *totally legal* torrents and my speeds have been horrendous. Normally I get 150kb/s+, at the moment I am lucky if I get 10kb/s.

High latency ... how about access to about 5 international sites and a few local on my connection

It's beyond ridiculous. Going to see if I can get access via my backup iBurst connection.

The downtime is affecting my business as I can't make vital orders

If I can guess, they're trying to start the tractor in order to power up the generator :D

My line is smooth as ever - no noise, the usual SNR and attenuation, yet I can't seem to download at more than 50kb/sec (I'm on 4mb)...

You're lucky!

I've had the same story since Friday ... access to 5% of the Internet browsing wise. The few places I can get a download from is at full speed (around 39kb/s)

*sigh*

The following notice has been UPDATED.

TIME: 7 Feb 2010 1:38:15 PM
ADDITIONAL: Please note that power reconfiguration maintenance on SAT3 that was supposed to take place on Saturday 6 February 2010 (0:01 to 04:00
UTC) has been postponed.

Telkom has advised that power reconfiguration was unsuccessful.

Telkom will confirm a new maintenance date tomorrow afternoon after consultation with SAT3 devices product specialists, Alcatel.

Here are some updated stats related to this.

I see there are some that say that "things are smooth"... On the graphs I reviewed, the "smooth" connectivity (lower latency) was recorded on IS JHB & SAIX CT (for local access services) and internationally IS & Mweb JHB and SAIX CT/JHB looked ok... though SAIX JHB service has been down...

If you double my latency, will you half my costs? http://blog.sintrex.com/?p=349
