You would need to add your city, so someone from the same city can do the test, to be as accurate as possible..My ADSL feels sluggish when gaming online (especially international), although speed tests doesn't reveal anything wrong. I also don't see packet loss when pinging a few sites. Before I torture myself by logging a fault with Telkom, could someone using ADSL just ping the below to compare?
www.news24.co.za (I get 50ms avg.)
www.amazon.co.uk (I get 37ms avg.)
www.bbc.co.uk (I get 240ms avg.)

I will add, your international latency seems a tad high.. local is ok, depending on where you are located and where the local sites you pinged are located..
Well I'm on fiber in Port Elizabethwww.news24.co.za (I get 50ms avg.)
www.amazon.co.uk (I get 37ms avg.)

I'm on Vox right now and this is what I'm getting... My connection is set to Interleaved. I have my 20Mb VDSL line through Afrihost. Am I right that having it set to Fast Path would improve my latency, but reduce my upload speed form 5Mb to 2Mb?Indeed. It also could mean Interleaved vs Fast Path. So location and whether it's FP or Interleaved is important here.
On VDSL2 it shouldn't, it can handle that upload fine. The question is more whether Telkom would allow it with their profiles.I'm on Vox right now and this is what I'm getting... Will check Afrihost later as well if you want.
www.news24.co.za (44ms)

I had 45Mbps down 10Mbps up VDSL on Fast Path.On VDSL2 it shouldn't, it can handle that upload fine. The question is more whether Telkom would allow it with their profiles.
Yeah, just Telkom at one point decided to move everyone to interleaved, on ADSL at one point anyone who got fast path was randomly changed back to interleaved again at one point.I had 45Mbps down 10Mbps up VDSL on Fast Path.

How does he get www.amazon.co.uk (37ms avg.) on ADSL
But I get 172 on fibre?

Could be. But even 3-4ms on a local LAN would be a red flag to me. Something is wrong if it ain't <1Thank you to everyone.
I think my router might be the culprit.
Last night I connected a laptop via Wifi, sitting right next to the router. I got 150ms latency and timeouts trying to connect to its admin page (192.168.1.1). It would average 3-4ms when I ping the router, and then shoot up to 150ms and even higher. It's a slow, frustrating mess trying to navigate menus when you eventually do get in.
The strange thing is, the speedtests are giving me 10 down/1 up without issue, and I don't see packet loss, just higher latency with the Internet sites I ping.
I haven't tested on LAN cable (I'll do tonight), but my Xbox is on the LAN cable and I'm seeing 300ms latency where I usually get 200ms internationally.
Pinging straight from the router seems to give me somewhat better latency, but I haven't done a side by side. CPU and Memory usage on the router is fine.
