High Latency

Hi Guys just want to know I have been getting over 600 - 1200ms latency to google.co.za on the 3 and 4 hop of a trace route now have found this over 3 ISP's and with 3 diffrent exchanges Telkom says there are no problems on the exchanges but you can see it in using the internet pages take forever to load and then everything is great again 10 minutes later. Telkom has dropped my line speed from 10Mbps to 4Mbps and still getting the same issue.

Your line is stuffed. Log a fault with Telkom.

If you can put a phone on your line and complain about a noisy line.

Weird thing here is I have found is the 3 and 4th hop on a trace route to google.co.za hits over a 100ms only on those hops rest are 32ms this is having done trace routes in Pretoria and Durban North and on different Isp's same result

If it is the 3rd and 4th hops then it is not likely to be your line that is faulty.
Maybe Telkom is just making adjustments or there are faults at different exchanges. The person you spoke to may not know about a fault.

I'm on the Durban north exchange and the last week has been terrible latency at night. Actually it's been on and off for the last month or two.
