High Motherboard Temprature

Greetings

My motherboard is sitting at no less than 40 degrees celcius at idle tempratures. As much as I have done research and queried, I keep getting told this is normal. It however does not explain why it was between 30 and 33 degrees before peaking at 36 during gaming before. It now has a peak of 46.

My processor on the other hand sits at 30 degrees idle now and only hits 42 running prime and 36 during gaming.

Case Antec 300, two front intakes on medium 12cm, one rear exhaust 12cm PWM (Optimal) top exhaust 15cm on medium.

Any fan I add or remove affects only the CPU temp. Spot fans on the northbridge sink do nothing, new thermal paste does nothing, dusting and cleaning does nothing also.

Mem : 4 gig (Corsair Dominator)

Case : Antec 300

How can I get it back in the original range.

Could it be the sensor is picking up heat from somewhere else or maybe could be faulty? Open your case window and see if the temps are affected

40C is not that high...

My desktop runs higher than that, the laptop higher still (but is designed for it).

When you get over 65C I'd start to worry. Is it properly hot to the touch?

Considering all you've done to try and lower the temps I'd imagine it could be a faulty sensor, but as you said, 46 degrees is nothing to worry about.
