Used to have adsl account from telkom, during evenings i would get a ping of 50-70 to SGS / Igame Call of Duty 4 Servers, now since changing over to afrihost 10 GB package my ping is 90-200+ (24/7 all days). Funnily enough my ping going through th roof coincided with Afrihost offering "uncapped" packages????!!! http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/images/smilies/mad.gif
i have done trace routes and find there are numerous "Destination unreachable", the only server with decent pings is the WAGE server.
I have tested this account on 4mb line and 512k line, ping difference is negligible, tested with another telkom account just in case it was my line or something and what do u know.. i get my 50-70 ping again.
I have emailed my traceroutes to afrihost support lets hope something comes of this..
Anyone else with similar experiences since changing to Afrihost??
Last 2 days have had the issue where from 8.30 pm till when i got to bed my ping has rocketed up to over 300!! on all servers, SGS, Igame, Wage - i know there is a problem with Seacom cable now, but i dont see how that should affect my "local gaming"
