Hi,

I play a lot of Counter Strike Source and I usually get a latency of about 20...
Now I get 80+... This is really unacceptable and I do notice a difference...
I use and TI account for international and openweb 30gb Is local for local(route sentry)
With my TI account alone I get 20ms latency....
IS is a lot cheaper than SAIX sooooooooooooooooo
Any suggestions?
Could it possibly be from the new uncapped accounts straining the network?

Regards
Aider

Dude a strange thing happened to me the first few days i had my uncapped account, my ping was 80-120ms locally, then it came back down to 14ms after a couple days.

Have you tried your old accounts to see if your latency is the same and make sure it is the new account?

Since the uncapped started my WA 30GB IS local is also showing higher latency in online gaming, as is my Afrihost R29 account.... usually it's 30-50, now it's anything from 90 to 250 (ingame).

It's called congestion and expect a lot more of that with all the uncapped deals popping up.

Yup, which is what we're all afraid of..... the degrading of the quality of the services we pay so much for .... :(

Suffering as well. Was fine until 17:00 today...all of a sudden I'm no longer getting full speeds and my latency on speedtest.net is 299ms. :(

I'm usually testing my latencies by using 'ping www.aardvark.co.za -t' or 'ping www.take2.co.za -t'

My latencies on my 4Mbps line (in Stellenbosch) was always 42ms or lower on my OpenWeb 30GB IS Local Only accounts. Since the whole Free The Web thing launched, my latencies are now standing at 140ms (and this is at 23:45 at night!). Now I won't be able to play DotA or CS1.6 online anymore :(
I've also subscribed to the new & cheap uncapped from Afrihost, and the latencies are the same, since its also IS...

Where can I get hold of cheap SAIX (unshaped & local only) bandwidth since IS is a no go for gaming now?
Update: [-]WebAfrica accounts would also do if their latencies are fine...[/-]
Now (00:40) I got latencies ranging between 13-20ms to www.take2.co.za using a 1GB prepaid WebAfrica local only account (R15) !
... and using the IS accounts again, I get latencies 35-65ms, which is acceptable.
