Doubt anybody will knock Becks off for a very long time.

According to Total Football Madness the highest paid and still active footballer is no one else but the franchise, David Beckham. Becks is currently on loan in AC Milan and earns no less than 32 million euros a year. His wage tops the short list of the 10 highest paid footballers for 2009. Lionel Messi came 2nd and Ronaldinho grabbed 3rdplace. Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are also present as they occupy the 5th and 7th place, respectively.

Check out the full list of the 10 highest paid players:
1. David Beckham – LA Galaxy/AC Milan – 32 million euros
2. Lionel Messi – FC Barcelona – 28 million euros
3. Ronaldinho – AC Milan – 19 million euros
4. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid – 18 million euros
5. Thierry Henry – FC Barcelona – 17 million euros
6. ***a – Real Madrid – 15 million euros
7. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – FC Barcelona – 14 million euros
8. Wayne Rooney – Manchester United – 13 million euros
9. Frank Lampard – FC Chelsea – 13 million euros
10. John Terry – FC Chelsea – 11 million euros

If it does incude sponsorship/endorsement, how does Messi earn so much more than Ronaldo?

Ya it must include it.

Messi earns more than Ronaldo. Didnt u know that?

Ronaldo earned 7 million pound per year from earnings and 12 million pound per year from endorsements...

that was at United...now he went to Real madrid and im sure its much more...that list is kinda hard to believe...

Real expect to wrap up the deal within the next seven days after formalising a package in which Ronaldo will earn £9.5 million in his first year – £183,000 a week – followed by a 25 per cent pay rise in each of the following five years of his contract. This would amount to £556,000 a week in the final year of his contract.

Google is your friend ;)

Or search on this forum, it was posted here some time ago.

I sense you are finding it hard to believe that Messi earns more than your beloved Ronaldo :D

Because if they paid as per skill level, then Ronaldo will earn more...

Ronaldo will still earn more with regards to endorsements...his name is a better brand then messi...people know ronaldo , not everyone knows messi.

hahahaha

Messi earns more than Ronaldo. He earns a higher salary.

Get over it!

Portuguese marketing agency Futebol Finance has published a list of the top 50 footballer's salaries this season and the results are genuinely eye-opening.

It's no real surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo is officially the highest paid footballer in the world , but something of a shock to realise there are 19 players pulling in a bigger salary than Wayne Rooney.

The financial muscle of Manchester City is laid bare by the presence of no less than six of their recent signings on the list (seven if you include Patrick Vieira, who was still at Inter Milan when the survey was put together).

Chelsea are the Premier League's biggest payers though, with seven players in the Top 50.

Manchester United are represented by four players, Liverpool two and Arsenal just the one (Andrey Arshavin, laughing - quite literally - all the way to the bank).

The full list is as follows. Let us know what you think of the results by leaving a comment at the bottom of the article..
