Suspect hijackers 'crush accomplice's legs'

A man's legs were crushed by a front end loader which he and two accomplices hijacked in Marlboro on Monday, Johannesburg police said.

Inspector Moses Maphakela said the vehicle fell on top of the 29-year-old man while they were trying to shake concrete off the loader.

"His accomplices managed to remove him from under the vehicle, which they abandoned after the accident," said Maphakela.

However the three men were caught heading to Tembisa hospital by patrolling police in Bramley.

"They confessed to the incident and showed us where they left the vehicle after they were questioned about the injured man's legs," he said.
