Cheapest FHD plasma is around R8.5k and 51", hard to find smaller ones in SA.
That said, you generally wouldn't find light bleed/light spots on a plasma. Because each pixel is self illuminated, unlike most LCD tech where pixels make use of backlight(s) needed to illuminate them (many).
This is one factor which leads to plasma's higher contrast ratio and better picture quality.

There we go. You're preaching to the converted. But this price point is ridiculous. But I'm convinced my next tv must be 'smart'. I don't see alot of plasmas in ads though.

You wouldn't, you're advertised what they want to sell you.
Specifically retailers jumping on the "LED hype" bandwagon.
At least the manufacturers are still giving us a choice.
The picture seems pretty good for video and basic use but I'm no expert. All I can compare it to is my 23" lg IPS screen which obviously has a much better picture.
The build seems solid although the plastic on the back does feel a bit cheap. It has 2hdmi a VGA and a few other connectors but haven't had a detailed look as I use my 5.1 speakers from the pc

as long as its not grainy and is watchable, then I would be fine with it.

Yeah, hz is for old TV's. New screens are measured by CMR and the likes. Each manufacturer has their own rating. Anything around 100 and above is adequate.

@denyed, do you know if the TV comes with wall brackets??
No it does not. It does have the mounting points though. Do TVs normally come with a bracket?

Just updating this thread after using the TV for quite a while now.
Pros:
Cheap
Good picture
No ghosting
4 year guarantee
Cons:
No power saving option to turn off TV faster when PC goes to sleep. It shows a bright blue screen for 10min or so unless I switch it off
Been very happy with it plugged into my pc. I use xbmc and streaming. Picture is good and haven't noticed any ghosting. I haven't used the TV tuner or the speakers on it so can't comment on those. The TV seems to play most files off a flashdrive or HDD pretty well too. I could also register the TV on hisenses website to get 4 year guarantee.
