Hi

I'm hoping somebody can help, I'm looking at the following 2 models:
55M5010UW
58N5000UW
They're both on special for the same price, one is obviously bigger. I can't find any detailed specs on Hisense's website in terms, all it says is that HDR is supported.

I don't game so it'll be used for DSTV mostly with the occasional movie and Netflix, but it's always better to future proof I guess. Or should I simply go for the bigger model?

Showmax would be a bonus, not sure if it's supported on both?

Thanks

Loot right ;-) got the same mail and was looking as well. As HDR is far more important then UHD.

Haha funny enough it was Takealot @ R8999. What's the deal at Loot?

So far it looks like the M5010 has got a newer and better smart TV OS (Vidaa U) so I may end up going for that one.

Ok so this what I picked up from their website, in addition to the newer OS the M5010 can also process HDR content while the N5000 doesn't have that ability.

Thanks, yeah seems it's simply an older model. Now I just need to decide Loot vs Takalot.

Ordered from Takealot, should arrive on Thursday apparently. :)

Thanks for the help.

Hirsch's had the M5010 on sale for R7999 over the Easter weekend. May be worthwhile to see if they'll give the same deal?

Wow, that was a great deal, I've unfortunately already ordered from Takealot. The irony is that the TV this one is replacing got struck by lightning during Easter.

So wait the newer one cannot do HDR? As normally the N would be after M?

I think they both can, according to the limited specs on their website at least, the N is shown as having HDR and the M with "HDR Plus" whatever that means. The M also seems to be the newer model which is very odd.

No mention of which standards, etc are supported.

Unless the M5010 is a slightly upgraded M5000 series? While the N5000 is an entry level N series? I don't know Hisense seems to slap on arbitary numbers.

Hisense needs a slap, they have different model names for different countries for the same TV, so it's very hard to do research.

Yeah they do actually, hard to tell what we get in SA.

Hisense 58N5000UW does have HDR confirmed

The Hisense 58n5000Uw definitely has HDR. I plugged my Xbox X into the TV and ran the HDR 4k tests and green ticks across all formats. All you have to do is enable the HDR in settings first (called enhanced contrast or something). I didn't have to firmware upgrade or change anything else out the box. Very good TV for its low price

Hi SAV. Kindly provide a post purchase review on the acquisition. Happiness?. Does it allow app downloads?. Does Amazon app come preloaded?

Howzit

To be honest, I haven't been paying much attention to the "smart" features, I got Netflix(with 4k HDR) and Showmax going and left it after that.

I'm happy with it otherwise, the menus are very responsive and easy to use, the picture is very good but then there is also the one big downside I can mention, the viewing angle - it's very poor. The picture looks washed out if you're not sitting right in front of the tv. I'm not sure if there are settings that could help with this, but it's not an issue I've noticed with any of the TV's before it. It could be a dealbreaker for some I reckon.

Thanks SAV. I'll be on the lookout for any smart apps input to this thread. That being said, I should hasten to concede that the brand seems to give a bang for your buck. I can live with adjusting viewing angle if it will provide a huge saving on the price tags of some premium brands. I feel that linking it up with the Mi tv box for an extra R1500 will trump the smart offering of any prime brand.

Cool, I'll try to remember to check out the other apps. I've got a MiBox connected to my other TV and the Netflix apps are much the same between the two, the biggest advantage for me is the fact that you can leave the MiBox on.

Either way, this TV is exceptional value fo money, I have got zero regrets and would buy it again.

I've had a look - not seeing the Amazon Prime app.

You're probably no longer here, but I cannot find this option?
