Hi folks,

I got a Hisense U8K last week and I read online that it has a built-in MQTT broker. I attempted, using MQTT Explorer to connect to it, but to no avail.

Although I doubt I'd use this feature, but hey, I like to play with shiny new things. hahaha.

Anybody got this to work?

Try enabling the MQTT broker in the TV's settings menu; it might be off by default.

What the fsck does a TV need to be a MQTT broker for? Who leaves their TV on 24/7/365?

My 5 year old LG CX at least receives notifications from my home assistant which is really cool as I don't need to have my phone nearby for some things I deem important for me to know about while watching TV.

Looking at the GitHub link above, you can do various things like change volume, launch apps, etc. not that I would use those personally as I don’t use the smarts on my TV as my Shield and receiver do all those bits. It was merely for me to tinker.

Do we know which models are supported, I cannot find any info?

Waiti, maybe I don't understand something. I thought a broker receives Mqtt messages from the swarm and processes it. Surely , the TV should be an endpoint and not broker?

Anyway, with my LG OLED (only say it again to get street cred from @epah) all this is possible using a native HA integration.

Maybe someone should build a hisense integration.

Noting there, but then again, I thought you were 100% confident that you knew, so why did you post if you were not sure?

Glad I’m not going dilly.
No worries tech settings can be sneaky. Maybe give a firmware update a try or poke around all the sub-menus or consulting the Hisense support page for detailed guidance.
