Does anyone own this TV or know anything about the quality ect?

I wanted to purchase the Samsung model but the price has gone up again and I see this one is selling for R9999. Should I be concerned about the brand and image quality or have they gotten better? I dont want to have poor picture quality.

I also see the Sinotec is selling for the same price and even tho it has a 5 year warranty over the 3 year of the Hisense, the Hisense has an extra HDMI port which is needed. BUt if the quality will be better on the Sinotec I don't mind either.

Please can someone shed some light on this.

My original option was to buy a 55" FHD screen but if I can get a 50" UHD screen for same price I will go for that.

Yes I get that but wouldn't the higher res still make for better picture quality when watching movies, netflix and playing xbox one or will the image look identical to a say 55" FHD screen?
 
UHD isn't a gimmick. You will have a sharper image even with 1080p content.

I think UHD is going to start becoming very common very soon and we're going to see fewer and fewer full HD sets.

You will have massive upscaling. If anything your picture will be worse for all the bull**** information added to it.

Also the standard isn't defined properly yet and the current TV's I believe don't conform to what has been proposed.

Save your money man, save your money.

But yes it will take over soon, but I bet that's three years away still.
 
There is a reason for the price difference and that's because Samsung out rates the "Hisesne" ten fold.

Not arguing that Samsung might be better but 10 times .......never! Comparing mid to high model with one another . Sinotec is just don't like
 
So the family have spoken and they still want 3D so it seems the Samsung is out :cry:

Would anyone here recommend this Hisense or the Sinotec or another TV for roughly R10k?

True today.

But, if you gonna drop 10K on a new TV now and its not UHD you gonna kick yourself that you didn't in 2 or 3 years time.

Well at least I would. :p

I wouldn't define UHD as a gimmick as it provides a tangible improvement and it's something that isn't going to be going away (at least not revert backwards).

It's like calling 1080p a gimmick when everyone had CRTs.
 
best is to put, a movie
on a usb stick and test between ,the tvs you are interested.
I did it at makro,and the hisense k610 model blew my eyes with quality

Didn't you read the news section today? 3D has failed again :) Now that is a gimmick (IMO).

I have a Sinotec thats about 4 years old now, no problems and very nice picture quality. Have heard the newer Sinotec's aren't as good, but the best is to go to the store and compare the TV's next to each other.

Why would you go for the UHD? What are you going to watch? Netflix? That only works if you have a super fast connection. We hardly have HD content (few DSTV channels if thats your thing and Blu-Rays) to watch, nevermind UHD (Blu-ray rips are 10-40 GB for a movie, how big is this for UHD?). I would rather go for the bigger full HD screen, unless you want to keep this TV for the next 10 years.

I don't need 3D but my kids are determined that I please try get a 3D TV again.

Only looking at UHD as they are similar in price for what you would pay a 50" FHD - looking to spend around R10k for a 50" or bigger.

I know there isn't much UHD content and not buying it for that - but surely 1080p HD content will also look great on the UHD screen? And if they are similar in price, is it not wise to go for the newer technology?

I have a Roku so don't really need a smart tv but I know that basically comes with all tvs. If there is a TV that is 50" or bigger and does 3D (passive preferably) then let me know and I will look into it.

yes it will be identical to 55'' FHD screen-all inputs that you mentioned will be 1080p.
and only UHD input will give you full UHD experience.i manage to convince a sales person
to remove a usb with UHD and to plug it to normal FHD.the result was very similar.
the 1080p tv will render the UHD images/video to 1080p format.
