Hit & Run in Work Parking Lot

So someone at my workplace decided they'd try park next to me, that ended with them hitting and scraping my car, so what did the low life do? Runaway.

My workplace pretty much don't want anything to do with the incident, they immediately told me they are not liable and I park there at my own risk, luckily I've served notice at the POS of a place (large multinational advertising company based in Bryanston) and next month is my last.

Anyway I have filed an accident report at Randburg police station and going through my insurance

My main question is are there any panel beaters any if you would recommend? Insurance want R5000 but I doubt it's worth that much.

I had a much worse ding fixed at a panelbeater in Cape town recently. Doesn't help but the cost was 3k. No doubt plenty body filler was used but they did a good job. 5k excess probably not worth it. Someone also drove into the back of my BMW recently and it of course had to get repaired at an "approved" place and was quoted 35k for a new bumper (No lights or sensors or anything).

Well panel beaters charge R5k plus per door just for paint and that's a nice looking car so probably better to just claim from insurance.

No CCTV looking at the car park, just at the gate, the head of security and head of maintenance pretty much don't want anything to do with this, they gave me the whole "you park your car here at your own risk" rubbish. Having spoken to some colleagues apparently this is how they are, last year after the Xmas party some people found their cars dented and scratched and the company pretty much gave them the same treatment and they had to go through their own insurance.

Insurance are charging me R5000 for it with their selected Panel Beater (Auto Magic or something like that), so I'll be looking for my own quotes, I already have 2 places I'll be contacting this coming week. If they can't get lower than that than I'll go with insurance.

How can it possibly be the company's fault if someone dings your car? It's the other driver's fault and its your bad luck, and your insurance are the right people to deal with it.

All I want is them to help me find the culprit.

The gate camera should clearly show a car coming in with no scratch and leaving with silver marks on its bumper afterward. They do not even want to do that.

I find it hilarious that people jump to the conclusion that one is blaming the company, when one only wants help in figuring out who the scumbag is that did it.

Yep, someone scratched my car so I'm bitching, would be weird not to. I came just to get a bit of advice in top of what I have received, just to ensure I cover all bases, which I've received from some very helpful individuals here, thanks guys

If you don't like my bitching and have nothing of value to add here then why even bother to comment.

I didn't lead you to anything, my opening post ends with me asking if people have any panel beaters they could recommend, because I'm taking this upon myself as my workplace are not interested in helping me find the culprit so I'm moving on and just trying to get my car fixed.

I think you'd have little hope of spotting the fleck of paint once you got it, and what a mission tracking the guy down and meting out justice after that. Maybe not worth letting the situation be any more frustrating than it already is. Let karma handle it.

Thanks for the advice, this is all I need in a situation like this, just some sound advice.

I'd love to so badly catch this person but it does sound like it would be a mission from what you have pointed out.

The other option is to tell the insurance company about available footage, they probably won't tell the client if they found the culprit but given the opportunity to recoup losses from an insurance payout (probably not in this case, but in cases relatively involving a lot more money), a lot of insurance companies will flex their company muscle and try investigate.
