HIV origin 'found in wild chimps'

Well nothing new really ... most scientists already knew that HIV and SIV are very closely related.

But the funny thing is that an infected chimp that has contracted SIV does not die from it ... in fact they are not bothered by it at all because they have evolved to simply tolerate it.

But it seems there is a big difference between how our T cells work and that of chimps and other mammals (cats for example get FIV) in that our immune system tends to go bezerk and hence we alone die from HIV.

Scientist speculate that in the past humanity faced such an awefull pathogen that required such an immune response or that it was a usefull trait to have that allowed us to spread into new areas rapidly.

Genetics is rather interesting pupa when it is based on scientific fact :).

Yes it is. Gives away lots of evidence, like why is Aids more prevalent in Africa! and lots of other small issues that came up to be discussed recently! Not?

I don’t know about that, IMHO aids are also found in domesticated primates. Some (according to scientists) have even been able to take over societies that (according to the scientists) were very well advanced. What I am trying to say, is perhaps the domesticated infected the wild ones. :D :D
