Hmm, Gaming causes disconnects?

Hey guys,
Experiencing a weird issue on my line. Basically, when ever I play any form of online game, my connection drops. Usually within 5-10 mins within the playing session, really random.

Now I've got a 4mb line, syncing at 4096 kbps. Running on Netgear. Now I've got a theory, haven't tested it yet, but I do believe the 4mb lines are anonymous for drops. If I limited my connection to half the sync rate, would this improve?

Now the means I have to do this is all thanks to telkom. Thanks to their crappy macroni pots modem I use to have, I can limit my line sync via that black electric protector box thingie. (If i run my phone line via the box, I sync at 20XX).

Would this help? Or Am I just talking crazy?

Hmm looking back at my post now, I realize that my grammar sounds all dutchman like. Sorry about that, it's December and I'm 3 days away from my leave, so I don't really have any incentive to actually proof read my post at this stage. But alas, I'm getting off my point.

So to sum up my issue: Limit sync, remedy drops sorry about being lazy.

I suggest post your noise and attenuation levels, if you haven't checked them already?

All you can do it call Telkom, ask them to come out and check the lines and the exchange. Could be a very simple fix their side.

If he can't find any issues, then you might need to downgrade your line speed to 512/1mb. But because the noise margin is so bad, it must be a line issue imo.

Your theory is wrong. I am an avid online gamer on a 4mb line and I only experience the occasional drop in connection. I have been on different line speeds of telkom and there has been no difference. In my opinion, latency affects the quality of the connection, not the speed of the line.
