I'm almost there, but there is one final hurdle to overcome ...

There are 2 issues:

  • wvdial cannot complete the process, then hands over to pppd
  • pppd stops at this point - "IPCP: timeout sending Config-Requests"
Any ideas?

Here is the log:

A quick update, I've tried the new 3G device manager, but that won't work on my current version of SuSE (10.0) due to Python dependency issues.

I'm now considering SuSE 10.2 (the above utility runs fine on that version) ...

Thanks! I'll give it a go on 10.0 (I'm getting my 10.2 DVD next week only) ...

I've already tried a solution that uses udev rules and the like, that at least managed to get me as far as I'm doing now (it disables usb_storage).
