Hi, I have recently got ADSL and have set up a home network by send network cables through and around the house I then connected them to the Switch and in all the rooms in the house and connected them to Surface mount wall box Cat5E-Double. When I connect a network cable to the box input and into a computer I will connect but not receive a response. But if I connect a network cable directory into the switch it connects and receives a response.

If you can fix the problem please tell me or I can give you a call if you give me your number.

Many thanks

What kind of ADSL router are you using? And does the switch had a dedicated uplink port?

have you got your boxes wired correctly? theres an A standard and a B standard, may have something to do with that. Basicaly the box has to be the same as the cable end.

The boxes normally have a A and a B code, as well as numbers. Make sure the numbers and the colour coding I gave above match up.

1 = White Orange
2 = Orange
3 = White Green
4 = Blue
5 = White Blue
6 = Green
7 = White Brown
8 = Brown

You probably made the boxes up as crossover, which happens quite often. Shouldn't be a problem though, as the switch "corrects" it. Unless you stuffed the wires up totally by not crimping it correctly or missing some points.

Get a cable tester.
