Home Affairs booking scam warning

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has warned of scammers charging South Africans to secure bookings at its offices for smart ID and passport applications.

An advert for the booking service says it offers smart ID and passport application booking assistance, as well as collections from Home Affairs branches.

yeah, yeah, still easier to pay someone to do the leg work for you, and most charge such a small amount it is worth it to be able to just show up at Home Affairs on the day, stand in a line for an hour or two and be done with it. My concern would be more around the THOUSANDS of South Africans who have been waiting for those ID for months or even years with no success. I thought my case was unique but discussions with members or parliament have made me aware that there are thousands of people who have been waiting for their ID for periods in excess of 12 months, some having been waiting for years.
