Home Automation - Smartkit

Just bought some sonoffs basics but having trouble connecting it.

I have done this just to try to connect to it.

I cannot find the WiFi network after I put it in pairing mode. Also my WiFi is 5ghz and the app doesn't allow me to pair.

I think the issue is my WiFi network it has WiFi isolation. I'm using airties 4920. If I put the sonoffs in pairing mode it blinks 3 times stops and blinks 3 times.

This **** is annoying

Going to try and connect to it using vrous WiFi hotspot

Yeah, a dishwasher changed our lives, the only time our kitchen is messy is when the dishwasher is full of clean dishes and we contemplate the effort required to actually empty it. #firstworldproblems.

Sorry, very OT for this thread.
The trick is get 2 dishwashers 1 for clean and 1 for dirt dishes. And you cycle between them

Yes Sonoffs are only 2.4Ghz. Ask @Dolby as he uses Sonoffs with his Airties.

Assuming the Sonoff is running standard FW ?

Go to AirTies setup on your PC (browser >>> http://air4920.local/ )

Then > Quick setup > Configure Network > Separate SSIDs. Connect your phone to the 2.4Ghz and retry the pairing?

After you've done this and linked the Sonoff to the cloud, you can set it back to running at 5Ghz (or band steering)

You're going to have this issue with any mesh or system that band steers, as it's putting your phone onto 5Ghz and nothing can see each other. So, you'd need to force the phone to 2.4Ghz somehow - and this is the easiest way

Looking at kitting out our new place with Home Assistant and a couple of smart switches and sonoff switches.
One item I am looking to integrate is the alarm system. Currently its just a simple panel with a couple wired passives. I was interested in upgrading to the MG5050 with the IP150 module, but it seems like the latest FW doesn't cooperate with MQTT.
Does anyone have any knowledge on the IP150S being possible to run with Home Assistant? The Paradox site does mention it can "be configured to any version", but I have no clue if that means it will work with MQTT.

Forget about the IP150. Get a ESP8266 NodeMCU, load the Arduino sketch found on my GitHub repo onto the board. Search for Paradox-controller, hook the board to the serial port of main board, configure HA accordingly and voila.

What does it do? Link into home assistant and give notifications or arm disarm and the whole shebang?

Uses the serial interface and meant to do just about anything.

I however couldn’t make it work, but do how a much older Spectra 1738.

Thanks mate this worked

I need to look into this - although my IP150 works moderately well in its current configuration - its a serious hack.

If I set a schedule on the sonoff. Basic, and then it loses internet connection will the schedule still work?

If it's using stock sonoff with ewelink, I don't think the schedule will work without internet connection.
If you've flashed it to Tasmota, and set the schedule locally on the device then yes - it will still work without internet.

Saw this in another forum. Will it work?

it is possible to connect a physical switch between GPIO14 and GND on the Sonoff board. This allows the device to connect to UK lightswitches that do not have a neutral connection

https://community.home-assistant.io/t/esp8266-sonoff-controlled-ceiling-lights/24141/20

That’s how you would do it with any board that isn’t a light switch itself without replacing your own light switches.

You still need a neutral to power the board, would only do it in the ceiling where the neutral lives.

Anyone able to assist with flashing Tasmota in Cape Town? We have a device that has been corrupted by load shedding.

Thanks!

This thing is annoying.

It's connected to the WiFi but shows as offline.

If I try Lan mode it also doesn't work. Screenshot_2019-03-31-23-59-02.jpeg

Link to the repo?
