Is there an off the shelf smart switch that can handle geyser current? I read somewhere that the sonoffs don't like that much current. I just want a switch that I can schedule on/off from an app

The Sonoffs handle up to a 3kW element.

Otherwise the Shelly EM will be brought in during the coming weeks.
 
Say phaktza, are you looking at bringing in the sonof mini ? looks like a nice smaller option.

Does the konnected.io have like a keybus how does it interface with more complex devices that isnt a sensor.

Ok I see on their website, if you already have a DSC alarm, it will work as is on the konnected.io board...I assume that is for the sensors.

That Ajax alarm system is the way to go. I convinced my boss to get one for his house in Knysna and he isn’t the most tech savvy guy but he set it up without any issues. The app is also amazing and he said all the wireless sensors work literally out of the box. It integrates with hikvision cameras and it it is supported by most security companies. If not you can link a radiopad. It’s also has geo fencing so if you leave the area and go out of WiFi it reminds you that the system is not armed etc. it’s also available in SA and apparently there is decent support for it.

I’m still stuck with paradox. The system is not bad but the app and the innovation from them lately is up to crap. I’m probably going to make the switch to Ajax.
 
Anyone tried to integrate an electric fence energizer into home assistant? IE just so it can let you know if its operational or an alarm state.

I'm already invested in Paradox, so have to make it work for now...

What is costing like on the Ajax. My paradox is still basic, as I have not added enought sensors yet. and I could recoup most of the costs by 2nd hand sale.
 
I worked out some stuff on the Ajax site. They show a price in ZAR but it's probably a straight conversion and that came to around R45k for a fairly complete system. The local distributors don't even feature it on their website, but assuming SOP for SA I imagine this would end up closer to R90k.

I am also interested to see if this could be done. You do get an external keypad so there will be some kind of comms on the cable.

Going to test to see if there is any difference in power consumption between on and alarm state. Will use a Sonoff POW as that can report back the wattage. Hoping its enough of a difference to accurately tell state.
