Does anyone know of any valid work from home jobs: data entry/capturing, working with excel, debt consulting, various other admin related skills. There are too many scams out there. I have a PC and internet. Any advice or assistance will be appreciated pr referrals to valid companies offering real opportunities'(seen too many R150 scams)

you could register on elance, people post jobs for freelancers. you will need to bid for the job and might not always get it but its legit work

Lol, not always legit either.

Someone once asked me to reverse engineer some app because the guy who wrote the app didn't want to give him the algorithm.

There is legitimate work out there for doing transcription, if you can handle it. The attrition rate is enormous because the work is soul-suckingly awful. I've earned up to R300/hr in the past doing this for UK companies, no joke (50 pounds/audio hour, 3hours/1 audio hour, do the math). I earned rates that were much higher than my daily job at the time but the thought of doing it on a full time basis was too painful to countenance.

I've got a mate who would be interested in this (he's a ginger, so I don't think the soul-suckingly awful will get to him), have you got any links?

What I did was Googled UK transcription firms and blanketed them with email. I got quite a few good responses and regular clients. It helped that I have an HSBC account though and am actually British. One client in particular had enough work that I could have easily gone full time with it.

Ah, shotgun approach, thanks for the advice.

R300/hr x 5hrs/day x 22 working days = R33000.

And in fact I got to the point where I could churn out almost 2 hours/1 audio hour because of a system I worked out, so the rate was even higher. But I ended up being a bit error prone as a result and got critiqued for it so I'd rather tone it back and make sure the accuracy was there.

There are also a ton of transcription firms on Freelancer and Elance/Upwork but there you're competing with cut-rate Filipinos and stuff who will do like $12/audio hour which is ridiculous and not even worth considering. You can also build up a good client base on there though if you get your reputation up.
