Is anybody here using Home Connect and their VOIP product? It's quite attractive given the R270 for unlimited calls but I'm wondering if it's any good.

I contacted them through their ticketing system to ask if you're allowed to use your own hardware for VOIP and I was told that you can, is anybody else doing this and having it work ok?

Will let you know in a few days time, applied 2 weeks ago and they've assigned a new number, just waiting for my telkom number to port which should be done Tuesday

Vox do offer unlimited calls at 250 if you using their fibre, and the fibre 10/10 on sadv was R100 cheaper, but vox gave me a difficult time trying to transfer fibre to them so I gave up and stayed with home connect

Only Vumatel in my area and Vox is only slightly cheaper than HC I'll look at them though I guess. Is there something on their site that mentions the unlimited calls, just had a quick look and didn't see it?

When you go through the application process for fibre then you'll see the option

Voip now active on home connect with my geographic ported number. Took about 2 weeks to port. Working well.
On the Unlimited calls option.
No automated systems like freshphone, to get the sip details I had to phone in. Then incoming calls weren't working due to a routing issue which they sorted out in about half an hour.
The website customer portal doesn't show all the live call details like freshphone does.
Will give it a go for a few months.

what was wrong with freshphone?

Are you using your own VOIP phone or software or something that they have provided?

My own grandstream ht802, tested with zoiper etc as well, working fine
