Home entertainment setup advice

OP, very very few Android media player devices can output true 1080p.

I know AMLogic AM8726 m6 based devices can do it, if running using the right firmware. The only right firmware that I know of, is an experimental linux build. No other Android device can do it, not even the Ouya. Rk3188 based devices are powerful enough, but do not output 1080p.

So, you can wait for XBMC for Android to be updated to support 1080p, or get an HTPC.

Using this unit for a 720p tv so all good.

I've tested my i5 Samsung lappy for 1080p output to main tv and it works good. Will probably add Flirc for remote and going to try OpenElec.
