About 20 years back when I was but a youth, I use to drag my PC around from local sports club to sports club and host free karaoke parties, just coz I like the idea..... As the years rolled by, the novelty faded and so did my urge to "pretend" to be Freddy!

But now, With my two eldest at that party age, with all their mates hanging at my crib (Young people speak) , I want to start playing Karaoke again on my lounge TV.

The TV is connected to my home network via Rasplex.
I have an old Amp in the cupboard.
I am going to buy two mikes next week.....

The idea is just to make a new video cat on PLEX and dump all the Karaoke in there.....

HOWEVER, I know one of you chipmunks out there might have a better idea/setup to do this...... I have a few old PC's laying around, should I convert? What software are you running at home? Is there a link to a home project for Karaoke that you might know about....

/Moose wanders off down the hallway singing, "I don't Like Mondays...."

Thanks for this.... Will have a look around "Other People Junk" when I pop into the Cape of Good Hope in 48 hours time, failing that I might mess around with PCSX2
I think the PS3 might also have it tbh. It was great fun back in the day, it seems something was lost with the 8th gen consoles.

I see the Ps3 does indeed have it, I wonder if I should look for a 2nd hand Ps3 , mind you I have two xbox 360's , let me check what karaoke they might do.....

Depending on how often you plan to have these karaoke parties, you may want to rather sign up for a subscription with Karafun. This way you have access to all the latest songs (they also have a download option which you can use as long as the sub is active). They have a pretty decent app which can be used on mobile devices or on pc.

Works really well.

I don't think Microsoft had any, as Singstar was Sony as they've got quite a large music division they could just bounce off their own brand. Whereas MS would need to license stuff.
