Hi All,

I have an M4 router set (3 of them) in my house.

It works well generally, but there are times when it lags and also struggles to link to my doorbell that is out of the house.

I am considering upgrading to the Deco X10, but I wonder if this is worth the upgrade?

I could still keep the all system to expand the network more.

Are your nodes hardwired to each other or are they using the WiFi signal to mesh?

Using the Wi-FI.

I had them hardwired but found better performance with the Wi-FI. Probably an issue with the cable performance
hmm...odd - cable is usually always better (more stable) - probably worth adding one more node to cover the dead spots and see if the stability recovers

Unless you plan to move to Wi-fi 6, I don't think upgrading would be worth it, but that's just my opinion.
Get proper cables for the M4s and the issue should be sorted.

Helped my uncle deploy an XE75 kit at his place to replace his old Asus Zenwifi system. Even thought I am accessing it remotely I can confirm the system is delivering great performance. One node is hardwired, the other is not. Really good kit.

So I have a Huawei EG8141A5 router and I would like to setup a mesh network, does anyone knowif the router is mesh network ready?

If the router is mesh ready, Im looking at getting the Cudy AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wifi Router Kit would that be compatible?

No, you can just buy the Cudy kit and replace the Huawei with the new mesh kit.

Guys for the love of pete, remember mesh wireless only works in smaller homes. I just inspected a Mansion/Castle in the East of Pretoria. These things are not designed to go through 6 walls plus. the place had like 8 Deco's 4 extenders and they were wondering why it wasn't meshing. Max 200 Squares, if that, if you don't know please just ask before wasting 20k on a mesh kit that wasn't going to work from the friggin start!?

Edit: And if it doesn't work with the 1st kit then DO not buy a 2nd kit...

Was it really 20k? Could they not run cable? Might have been better getting a proper network design done

This is not accurate. You can extend the mesh as far as you like.

The idea that 3 will cover any house is the misconception.

I have a relative small house but I have 5 mesh points. (Ubiquiti amplifi hd)

My wifi is better than any office environment :)

Add more mesh points OR add non home grade network points

Fiber was run into the building adjacent to the Mansion and from there the main Mansion gets some sort of hope to god connection. Quoted a cable system (they had no provisioning of one so had to design one that is hidden, cause you know, "aesthetics" )

Your house was probably built with brick walls. No wifi Signal is going to pen Concrete and rebar to boot. otherwise you sir are smoking

Interested to see / hear how you fix this mess - please post updates if you can

I've been using the M4s for a while and had no issues at all.
Cable would definitely be better than going wireless!
Just make sure you have a decent cable and getting gbit throughput and that should be all you need.

Also helped a family member with quite a large home (5 bed)
4 M4s wired in and working flawlessly....

I have seen reinforced concrete in those big houses destroy wifi even when the nodes had line of site with each other.

Only one way a person can fix it, have to run cable from point of breakout to all the spots in the house. You guys all know I run Ruijie so it was a Ruijie build. Was gonna do the nice Wifi 6 cieling AP's poe Switch and their RG105V3 router pretty simple all housed in a 6U network cabinet. Sadly they never came back. Suspect they went to my competitor that installs Unifi AP's without their controllers... Meh, not bothered but please just don't be like them and keep buying mesh units and be the ones to say to any network tech "The box says it can cover any house"
