Yr router is already wireless, so y do u need to buy another router.
U can do it quite easily but i cant remember (2 years ago).
U just have to log onto the router from computer (think via lan cable), set a long KEY and the use that to logon wirelessly.
Can google otherwise someone else here might have exact info.

Use a Wireless USB dongle thing in your PC to link to the router, then setup from there, depending on your house plans might need a wireless repeater halfway, but yeh try the dongle before, no need for a expensive one, as your ADSL line will never go over 54mbps :p

You need a wireless network card installed on your PC. Get a usb based one, so you can use it on other PCs and laptops if necessary.

Thanks for the responses guys, I have 2 pc's in my study, the one I use as a server I'd prefer to have a wireless router of sorts to connect both pc's together and allow it to communicate wirelessly to my netgear router which is then plugged into my adsl and xbox. So my question is what do I get for this scenario, a router, access point or repeater? I want this 'hub' in my study to allow connectivity to the internet, xbox and to both pc's within my study

I dont understand the problem.
Yr 2 computers and Xbox have wireless capability.
Then u can just connect wirelessly to the router and still use the one as a server.
If signal is yr problem then u will have to buy another router in yr study, but have to connect via cable (as wireless will then just be redundant).

No, none of my devices have wireless capability. They just have lan cards. My xbox is connected to the ADSL router (cabled) which sits in my kitchen (Kitchen and lounge are in the same area). Then I have 2 PC's in my study that I want to connect to this ADSL Router so that I may get access to the internet, to the xbox and to each other.

Currently, to allow my two pc's to connect to each other I have to run network cables from each of them and plug them into my NetGear ADSL Router in my kitchen which has me running two VERY LONG network cables from my study, through my passage and into my kitchen. This is what I am trying to avoid (the use of cables running througout my house.

OK. Then, as the guys mentioned above, just get a USB network card (can also get it PCI if desktop). They not expensive. And use the first post i sent to have an idea of how to connect from router to computers wirelessly (just need a share key).
Sorry for the misunderstanding:p

you might notice your wirless link dies whenever you use the microwave....

get some extension cable and get the router out of the kitchen.

There are also devices for running ethernet over your electrical wiring. I've never used it so I don't know how fast or stable they are.

If the distance is fairly short, then just buy a wifi dongle for the PCs. End of story.

If you've got a fairly large house then the wifi signal might have trouble getting through the walls. In that case installing a LAN cables will save you a lot of frustration.

If you can, get a hold of a laptop. Connect it to your wireless router and walk to the study. Download netstumbler and check the signal strength. If its >-75db (Smaller number is better, i.e. -30 is better than -75) then you'll need to make another plan (lan cable or repeater).

You won't have internet on the laptop while netstumbler is running since it shuts down the zero conf wireless service.

If you do buy gear, try to get something that supports the new "n" wireless standard in addition to "b" & "g".

Simple answer since the start, a wireless card will be the best but obviously LAN cable will be the bestest :)

Thanks for all the replies, what I ended up doing last night is purchasing a netgear wifi router, plugged my two pc's into that router via cable (so that they can communicate faster with each other as I use the one as a type of server). I then setup my adsl router to be a 'master' router and the other router to be a sort of repeater. I searched for about 2 hours on the net on how to do this. It was kind of wierd as a lot of the posts I read stated that my router (netgear WGR614V9) does not support repeating, however within the config screens there was clearly a Wireless Repeater Configuration section. Another strange thing is the way I had to set this up. On both the ADSL router (master) and the Repeater (standard wifi router) I had to set them both to 'Repeater with Wireless Client Association', which in essence seems to set them both as repeaters. Here is the article that eventually sorted me out http://www.unix.ms/netgear/. It is using the Netgear DG834G Router exclusively, but it works when you use the WGR614v9 as one of the repeaters. Hope this helps someone else and saves them the time of searching like I had to.
