Hi all,

Looking to install a hidden camera in the house (passive look a like) wireless preferably. And also a camera for the external of the house, also wifi. Something with reasonable build and video quality but doesn't need to be top notch (intermediate). Can anyone recommend devices\ places that will have these? Budget would be less than R 4000 for the whole setup - cheaper if possible.

My idea is that I'll get my server at home to record the video in a 24 hour\ or longer loop. And allow me to connect remotely to monitor what's happening at home.

in your bedroom? who are you wanting to catch? what do you suspect is going on?

Your covert cameras which look like innocent devices (passives, fire detectors, alarm clocks) all tend to be analog cameras which use cable, or use a battery with SD card The wireless kit to convert these is about half your budget. I was selling a mini spy camera (pin hole) with 4 ch DVR for about R3K over Christmas, and an alarm clock with 12 hour battery for R2500.

For wireless, are you perhaps able to hide a smallish camera somewhere, in a cupboard? An IP camera could then meet your budget, be easier to install and manage and much better picture quality

I think our domestic may be stealing from us. I'd like to setup a camera in the main bedroom in the corner so we can see what she get's up to while we aren't around. For the external of the house I'd like to setup a camera so we can see the general coming and going of people in the complex near and around my unit. I see Regal is selling these (http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2014030617394252141.pdf) - but it's normal ethernet and not Wifi. I'd prefer Wifi because it simplifies installation (I can also use my media server to run the software for the recording etc.) - although that unit also takes an SD card (64GB) that could be a solution.
