I have a system running which is fairly old.
It came with the place.
It's a Denon AVR X2300W
it doesn't have the best speakers.
I upgraded the front centre speaker and sub which is pretty good now.
Problem is I need to upgrade the app and speakers at rear and possibly ly look at going Atmos setup.
Going to cost a bit.
Looking at the Denon X6500

Is it worth getting this one?
I have speakers running around house off HEOS separate amp.

Are there any decent home theater forums to discuss locally?

Thanks

What do you want to run off it? Its pointless to spend all that money and not use half of what is available.
Could rather spend the extra on better speakers.

Where and how much are you going to pay for the amp? No issues on that amp at all.

It’s got pretty much everything and according to Google, even eARC which is impressive.

As above, are you going to use all channels?

I got a used like new Denon X2700 from Francois The HiFi Guy. Great guy to deal with.
Using it with MiBox 4K and PS5. Only have stereo with a centre connected. No surround. And a sub.

Speakers are B&W683 S1 floorstanders and a Yamaha sub. Working lekker. I am a stereo kind of guy so surround does not bother me.

Paired with an Optoma UHD38x projector. When I go the PS5 caused a ripple effect to make use of 4k. So needed to upgrade the amp and the projector.

I have the Samsung Q990B on my other TV, the sound on that is beyond insane, probably the best money I ever spent.
On the home theater system, there is a projector, many speakers but thats about it, plays ok in steroe but u you dont get that sound like the Atmos system.
I want that sound.
So Francois recommended that we change for the following:
Denon X6500
Klipsch RP280
Klipsch R50 & R40
The front centre and sub I have already changed which are excellent.

I dont know if the new AMP is needed but its a good price.
I dont know if I need 11 ch but the room is quite big
I dont know what to do really.
I just want an expereince like the atmos system

I also have speakers all over downatairs, running on the HEOS separate amp
I dont know if you can recommend someone locally in jhb who can advise and come out to see?

What will you be doing with your old avr once you upgrade?
If you selling let me know how much please

I suppose sell it, not sure value though, I have no idea.
I mean the system is fantastic for what it is, I think the main issue for me is the amount of channels VS the speakers I have, I dont know what to do as I dont really understand how this all works to be honest, I just want that amazing immersive sound and I am not getting that perhaps due to the speakers?
I have these speakers at the rear:
The R30C is the centre
The E350 are the front speakers
The sub is great - Polk HTS10 sub
The reasr are Jamo and Missions - not sure why or what they did but they are wired up together or something like that

The amp is 7.2
I assume that means 2 x subs and then 7 channels for speakers?
It doesnt make sense to me.

Oh wait I get it.
Fronts = 3
Rear = 2
Then 2 sides
so I dont know how it would work in this room to get atmos?

I also cannot install roof speakers as its a concrete slab

I think you need to get an independent guy to help setup and fine tune your system. Someone that doesn't want to sell you something. And see if that creates the sound you are looking for. Maybe see if it's possible to add some in ceiling atmos speakers to your current setup.

I agree, problem is the roof is a concrete slab so its difficult to put ceiling mounted ones in, would have to get up firing ones I think?
But yes I need someone who is an expert and doesnt just want to sell stuff to me, the AMP may in fact be ok to use

The AMP is fine, not all speakers are Atmos capable.
Do you have one of these to setup the speakers?

Unless you are floating up in the ceiling that entire speaker placement is utterly useless.

If I was you I would take it all down and start over properly.

Yup, I dont know whaty they were thinking, a complete bloody mess if you ask me, doesnt make sense to me, think I need to rip out the rears and start again

I guess depending how they mount you could simply point the down to the listener and keep them out of the way.

Always find it strange when people have too much money and then do weird DIY stuff like this.

Yes I have it
Connect it and run speaker setup from amp menu, it should at least be a start to a better listening experience. (hopefully the cable is long enough, unsure of amp location)
Also agree with what @SauRoNZA said.
What is your plan for the atmos speakers, you removing two of the existing surround speakers?
You will need a 9.2 amp if you want to add and not replace.
