I just games latest special for Samsung 3D Blu Ray component home theatre (HW-E5500/XA)
5.2 1050W with 3D Blu Ray player

I tried to look online for reviews but not much. What do the audiophonics of MyBB think?

Or should I go for Hi-Fi corp. Sony DDW4500 5.1 home theatre package?
Any other suggestions?

Please don't! If it's anything like that LG system then it'll be loud, but a crap system.

Rather look at this:
Marantz NR1402 - R3500
Jamo S416 - R3500

R1000 more, but a quality system. I have the Marantz NR1602 receiver, but the same speakers, and it's a damn fine system.
 
Ooooo.. R3500 for those Jamo's seems like a bloody GOOD deal to me..


Sod it.. I know I need a XMAS Present...
 
Since you have the 1602, which is roughly the same amplifier as my 1501 (give or take :) )... how do they power those JAMO's.. cos I currently have manky LG's attached to my amp, and they drive them.. but I have to crank it for the speakers to get going properly.
 
If you use the default levels on the receiver then it'll sound a little flat.

After going through the initial setup with the mic, I had to increase the input source level a bit to get it sounding right. Spent about 2 hours getting it to sound the way I wanted but it was worth every second. Trust me you won't regret it.

As for the amp itself, it's got plenty of power to power far more powerful speakers.

I'll start a thread on getting through any initial setup issues if more people decide to buy it :D

I don't know how to start a new threat so hopefully someone will see this msg and reply.I want to buy a home theatre system,have R10 000 to spend,want a blu ray player included.any good systems out there
 
If you can stretch your budget just a LITTLE bit (R3k) then go to DionWired and get their Onkyo bundle for R13k...

If not, then go to Dion Wired aand get their Marantz/Jamo combo and a standalone BluRay player.
 
Yeah the Marantz/Jamo combo is probably about the best deal at that price range. I don't see it on their site at the moment, but they run the promo fairly often it never hurts to head down there and check it out.

The link shows the Marantz NR1402 @ R6000 and the Jamo set @ R6400.01.

Eish, its an old post, saw it after, sowwy.

It was a special that they had at the time, but they usually run promos on this particular combo so it's worth checking their site from time to time or heading down to the store.
