Well, after six years I was finally back. While I had made mistakes, I had no regrets as I had learnt a lot and had a lot of fun. I'd even squeezed in some English teaching in Asia and been able to play the property market in the UK. In fact that was most of my delay, waiting to be able to sell at the right price! The first thing I did when I got home was to take a holiday at the coast. I was 'lus' for the sights of my country and eager to soak myself in the African sunshine. Being home was great, there was such a sense of freedom not to be found over there and thank God, “at your own risk” and “the management is not responsible” signs everywhere! In the UK life is squashed under the burden of needing insurance before you can do anything in case anyone gets hurt. In this country we still understand personal responsibility and we need to hang on to that. The worst part of being home was……..
do-nothing moaners living only for themselves, being so unappreciative of what they have, not actually doing anything about the problems in the country and unable to even think about breaking free and living their dreams because they’re so in debt they cant plan beyond their next salary cheque and in fact will their lives away as they will the end of the month to come sooner. Never mind that they are just perpetuating what they complain about. Talking solutions instead of problems would be a good first thing for people to start doing. Also of concern is the lack of being ‘hands-on’ when it comes to fixing our problems.
It does not interest me that the pound is stronger than the rand.
I want to know if our indigenous medicine can cure the world of Aids and
If our people can learn together, taking our past into our future.
It does not interest me which party you voted for in the last election.
I want to know if we still admire Nelson Mandela and
truly see the hope we have been given.
It does not interest me if we are not a super-power.
I want to know if we remember that we saw our man in space and that
he started our children dreaming.
It does not interest me if you are government, NGO, public or private sector.
I want to know if we can cooperate and compromise.
If we can admit mistakes humbly, and so reach for the stars.
It does not interest me in what nation, race, culture, gender or category we have been placed.
I want to know if we can shape a community together and
share a home of belonging.
It does not interest me that we have eleven official languages.
I want to know if we can hear each other and
expand our lives with meaning.
It does not interest me when you say you are leaving.
I want to know when you gave up
And if you know that you have left your heart behind.
Might I suggest a cure to all your troubles?

Aah, come on. It's only Skinner.
Oh dear.
I actually like Homecoming Revolution - but if Skinner's for it, it's only going to give them a bad reputation![]()
So when are you coming back, Skinner?
As much as I'm all for bending them in this case, rules are rules![]()
