So I got this game today as I mentioned I wanted it a while back.

Problem is though, as my nature has it, I always apply the latest patch to a game and then I play it.

There seems to be a huge bug in Homeworld 2 though with the v.1.1.1 patch, it's the only Homeworld 2 patch there is, but Vista hates it and the game was unplayable, quitting to the desktop without an error.

I read some comments online after searching for nearly 2 hours and someone said the game works fine if it doesn't have the patch installed, so I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it without the patch and voila! It's working beautifully on my Intel 945 Internal Graphics on my laptop!

Yay ;) :D :p

Strange.

I played a full game with the patch on vista on my laptop, but only once. That was a lan game against bots. Next time I tried it also just crashed...

Yep, that's how I found out to use the default version on the cd. I didn't even test it after I installed it first, I only applied the patch, won't be making that mistake again ;)

Give it another go, it's a cool game, although you'd be limited to single player only, because I'm sure the servers require the patch.

I know the game.

been playing it with some buddies for the past 2-3 years now.

last mod we played was the complex mod. Makes the game much more interesting and intense.

Wow, 3 years ;) I have to be honest, when I was younger I played about 3 missions of Homeworld1 and I have never played Homeworld 2, but I thought it was worth getting it and it was ;)
