Yes

Since we do not have a proper electric vehicle system in SA yet (and around Limpopo where I reside), I see there is this lovely, the Honda CRZ.

what year is the best with the least issues ? spares wise are they plentiful ? I really like the inside and outside of the vehicle and specs wise it seems alright for long distance travel.

by the time our country goes full electric, I might just be one week in on retirement.

It's not a bad looking vehicle but I just don't like that Prius look they have at the rear. Since it will probably be long out of warranty my concern would be the electrical part of it, e.g how much does the battery cost ad what happens if the electrical part goes faulty, does it render the whole car undriveable?

I think your best bet would be to ask Honda, because I don't think there is enough information about these vehicles.

Neighbour has a Honda Insight, not at all a CRZ but does bear a family resemblance, His is 6 years old and faultless. His fuel consumption is 3.8 litres/100km

It is smooth and quiet. The motor kicks in once you exceed 60 km/hr for a minute. It has only done 46000km. I got the impression that the front tyres (Yokohama) had worn down faster than usual, as the tread wear indicator is showing

The battery is under the floor, so the sill is a bit higher

It must be the extra oomph from the motor, Honda NA engines are very good, I can imagine the extra power and torque must make fora very pleasant drive.

Mileage and tread wear won't be a problem.

I drive 100km to 140km per month just for going to town. work from home (in de boosh)

Thats also what I am wondering about...

If I can drive without the electric bit that will be fine too, I think what will happen, the check engine light will show but you will still be able to drive with the ICE just no electric boost (well thats my logic) until I can sort out that part if indeed it ever fails...

time to check out that link you sent, thanks. I will pop them a mail and ask them, maybe check some honda forums.

I hope Honda being Japanese would be humane enough to allow that, I know ze Germans and Ford would go out of their way to make sure the car is rendered useless if the electric part is faulty, they'll put some electronic module that make sure of this, for your own safety of course.

Very surprising and fun can to drive while also being pretty economical even when pushing.

Always loved the CRX this is kind of an homage to.

I would be a little concerned considering they are no longer sold locally what would happen when you have any major issues, but at the same time it’s a Honda and they never die.
