Updated Fit/Jazz. This is the American-spec one. Should not differ from the SA variants too much.

The 2018 model year brings significant updates to the third generation of the versatile 5-door subcompact Honda Fit including fresh sportier styling, a more dynamic and refined driving experience, new Sport trim, and substantially upgraded technology and premium features. In a first for Fit, the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver assistive technologies including Collision Mitigation Braking (CMBS) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) is available on all Fit models and standard on EX and above trims. This makes Fit the most affordable car in America with such a robust offering of safety and driver-assistive features and the only vehicle within its segment to do so.

Exterior and Interior

The 2018 Honda Fit features updated and sportier styling, including a lower and wider appearance thanks to new front and rear fascia, a more sophisticated two-piece chrome and piano black grille, and new wheel finishes. Overall length of the 2018 Fit increases to 161.4 inches (+1.4) for LX, EX and EX-L models while Sport's unique aero kit adds an additional 0.4 inches (161.8).

For 2018, the Fit offers an expanded exterior color palette with two exciting new options - Helios Yellow and Orange Fury. Carryover colors include White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Milano Red and Aegean Blue Metallic. EX and above trims also feature a new two-tone finish on the 16-inch alloy wheels with machined spokes and gloss-black inserts.

The new Honda Fit Sport trim features an even more aggressive and sporty look with aero form features at the front, sides and rear, integrated fog lights, and a low and sharp front splitter highlighted in bright orange. An exclusive gloss-black finish on the 16-inch alloy wheels further adds to the sporty look. At the rear, a three-strake diffuser with bright orange upper trim line, chrome exhaust finisher and Sport badge complete the Fit Sport's distinct exterior styling.

On the inside, the Fit Sport distinguishes itself with a black interior with unique cross-hatched fabric for the seats and door trim. The exterior's orange accent theme continues inside with bright orange stitching on the seats, console-mounted armrest, and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Today I saw the Honda Fit/Jazz sedan not impressed it's ugly. The guy who was driving it he is from Lesotho. Thank you God Honda SA didn't bring us the Honda Jazz sedan.

I just wonder how the new version of Honda Brio will look I read somewhere it's coming in 2018/19.

Updated Fit/Jazz. This is the American-spec one. Should not differ from the SA variants too much.

If we could only get the current US spec model it would be great!

Our current SA Jazz is still stuck with old tech motors and 5 speed manuals from previous gen.

My Jazz has lots of cupholders and that and the magic seats are the best features, since they removed the cupholders in the newer models, I hope they haven't removed the magic seats.

Honda Jazz

The new-look Honda Jazz has been revealed ahead of the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. As well as updates to the exterior styling and interior trim, the new Jazz will also be available with a 130 PS (96 kW) 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine for the first time in Europe.

Exterior changes align the Jazz with the latest Honda family style, incorporating the 'Solid Wing Face' headlight signature and grille. The front bumper is sharply sculpted, with more aggressive contours around the air vents. At the rear, shallower grille sections are linked by a gloss black trim strip above a trapezoid lower section. Updates to the exterior are rounded off by the addition of metallic Skyride Blue as a new colour option.

Honda's 130 PS petrol engine combines high output with low fuel consumption, and complies with stringent Euro 6 emissions standards. It achieves fuel economy of 52.3 mpg and CO2 emissions from 124 g/km with the optional CVT automatic transmission. The CVT system itself has been revised to deliver a more linear and refined response under acceleration.

The 130 PS petrol engine is offered as part of a new Dynamic grade, which adds a thinner front splitter beneath the lower grille, and triple-strake diffuser to the rear bumper - both finished with a sporty red accent line. Dynamic grade also includes LED headlights, front fog lamps, side sill skirts, a tailgate spoiler and gloss-black 185/55 R16 alloy wheels. The interior features a unique pinstripe pattern on the upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, all of which are enhanced by orange stitching.

The new Honda Jazz retains the exceptional versatility of the previous model, including boot space of 354 litres (up to 897 litres with the rear seats folded down) and passenger space that is unrivalled in the class. Honda's highly practical 60:40-split Magic Seat system allows for numerous cargo configurations, with a maximum interior loading length of 2,480 mm and maximum loading height of 1,280 mm.

Standard equipment on the Honda Jazz includes cruise control, automatic headlights and the City-Brake Active safety system. Higher grades feature a 7-inch Honda Connect infotainment system, rear-view parking camera, keyless entry and start, as well as advanced safety technologies such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition.

A 102 PS 1.3 i-VTEC petrol engine will continue to be available across all Jazz trim levels, apart from the new Sport grade.

The new-look Honda Jazz will be available to order from November across Europe, with deliveries starting in early 2018.

Looks like they're trying to make a Mini-Civic. I wish they wouldn't. The Jazz always looked like itself and was a good little car, they should leave it with it's own identity, not Civic Jnr.

Jazzed up: Honda hatch gets a fresh look

Honda has revealed its facelifted Jazz ahead of its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

While the hatchback retains its practical body shape, Honda has sharpened up the styling at the front and back.

Upfront it bears a closer resemblance to the latest Civic, with new headlights, bumper and grille all conforming to Honda’s ‘Solid Wing Face’ design language. At the rear, the Jazz gets new lower trim strips that are styled like a grille.

Mechanical changes are few, with the only engine news being the availability of a 96kW 1.5-litre i-Vtec petrol engine in Europe for the first time, but it remains unclear whether this would replace the 88kW 1.5 i-Vtec that’s currently sold in SA.

The 96kW 1.5 will be available with a revised CVT constantly variable transmission.

Local specifications and launch timing have yet to be confirmed, but hopefully Honda will offer its new ‘Dynamic’ trim grade locally.

The Jazz Dynamic gets racier exterior and interior styling, including a thinner front splitter, LED headlights, side skirts, roof spoiler and gloss black 16-inch alloys. Inside it gets ‘pinstripe’ upholstery and orange stitching on the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

In terms of features and gadgets, upper versions get an 18cm touchscreen infotainment system as well as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition.

HONDA REVEALS FACELIFTED JAZZ … IN SPORTIER TRIM

Honda has unveiled the facelifted Jazz ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, handing the versatile supermini fresh exterior styling and a sporty new trim level.

Interestingly, the naturally aspirated 1,5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine now makes 96 kW (the current version in South Africa is worth 88 kW).

The updated Jazz features the Japanese automaker’s latest family face, courtesy of new headlamps and front grille. The front bumper is also fresh, and features more aggressive contouring. Round back, there’s a new gloss black trim strip above a trapezoid lower section, while metallic Skyride Blue has been added as a new colour option.

The range-topping Dynamic model pictured here furthermore adds a thinner front splitter below the lower grille and a triple-strake diffuser in the rear bumper, both finished with a sporty red accent line. This flagship also includes LED headlamps, front foglamps, side-skirts, a rear spoiler and gloss-black 16 alloys.

The 96 kW 1,5-litre engine is Euro 6 compliant and sips at a claimed 5,4 L/100 km when mated to a CVT. Honda says the CVT system itself has been revised to deliver a “more linear and refined response” under acceleration.

No word yet on when the facelifted model will arrive in South Africa.

Facelifted Honda Jazz (2018) Revealed

The eminently practical Honda Jazz has undergone a mild update and the facelifted version will be revealed to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show (September 2017). Here's what the Japanese firm has changed on its popular compact hatchback...

The Honda Jazz has been one of the Tokyo-based brand's best-selling vehicles and a finalist in its segment of the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards thanks to a clever folding seat system, generous specification and Honda generally providing a trouble-free ownership experience. For the 2018 model year, Honda has made available a 1.5-litre iVtec engine with 96 kW on tap, as well as offering updates to the cabin trim and exterior styling. As you can see from the photos, the front end has adopted the signature Honda Solid Wing Face and features some aggressive touches on the bumper. The rear now features shallower grille sections and there's a new colour option called Skyride Blue.

This new engine piques our interest as it complies with strict Euro-6 emission standards and can be mated to either a manual gearbox or a CVT. Honda claims this new powertrain consumes just 5.4 L/100 km. The new engine forms part of what Honda calls "Dynamic" grade, which offers some sporty cosmetic enhancements such as the bigger wheels, LED headlights and red accents on the bumpers.

In terms of dimensions and practicality, this new Honda Jazz offers luggage space of at least 354 litres. With the clever 60:40 Magic Seat system in full operation, you can get up to 897 litres of cargo in, which translates to a loading length of 2 480 mm and a height of 1 280 mm. If you want to transport furniture or curtain rails, then this should make light work of the load.

Standard features range from cruise control, automatic headlights and active safety features in the form of City Brakes. The higher spec cars feature a 7-inch Honda Connect infotainment system, rear-view parking camera, keyless entry and start, as well as advanced safety technologies such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition. We'll have to wait for the South African confirmation to see what our market receives in terms of specification. The new Honda Jazz goes on sale in Europe in early 2018.
