Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this.

I have been trying to get my site to be secure by purchasing an SSL certificate and linking it to my hosted site for over 3 weeks now.
My site is hosted with MWEB, and getting any decent response or explanation out of them has been a battle.
I have purchased the certificate already. To continue I need a fixed IP according to the following text I found on the website where I
purchased the certificate:
“Installation of SSL certificate requires dedicated IP address to be assigned to your site. You should check with your hosting company if they provide you with dedicated IP address. This should be checked prior to activation of SSL certificate for you to avoid any issues with SSL certificate installation.”

Now I have been phoning, sending email, begging, crying to get this certificate hooked up with MWEB.
They (tech department) eventually told be to talk to sales regarding the fixed IP and order it from them.
Ok so after a zillion times explaining to sales dept. that I dont need a fixed ADSL IP address and I need a fixed IP for my domain, they send me back to the technical department,

Below is the email send back and forth between me and MWEB tech dept.
Now I am really confused. What do they mean I need my OWN static address, isnt the domain's IP static?

ME:
I have spoken to the sales department and they have informed me that the IP for the site is static.
What is my next step? If you are going to send me the CSR please also remember to include the server type which I need to fill in as shown in the example below.

TECH:
What is the static IP address that they provided you with ?
Did you get it from our sales department ?

ME:
They did not provide me with the actual IP, but I guess it would be the IP address that is returned when you ping www.abc.co.za, which is 196.xx.xxx.xx.
All the sales mentioned is that they do not sell fixed ip addresses and that the domain's IP is and remains fixed.

TECH:
Our webserver does have a static IP address yes, but you need your own static IP address. Please speak to business sales - 011 340 8400

 ARGH... what am I not getting here? Could someone PLEASE shine some light here for me.

I am sure there must be a misunderstanding because MWeb will surely provide you with an IP Address especially since I assume you provided them with necessary justification. I would e - mail their sales department again and explain to them that you need it for the installation of your SSL Certificate and not for your internet connection.
