hooking xbox upto a pc

so i was thinking of maybe link my pc to xbox....

....basically just for updates etc, will do the xbox thing live later when my internet connection is upgrade

now my 2 quesions
1- i have read you need a cross over cable, so do just plug it in both decives and i'm sorted?
2- what other benefits will i have by linking the 2

1. yes any ethernet cable will work. - enable interconnect sharing on your pc.
2. you can stream all your mp3 / videos and pictures directly from your pc - 123 you got
a media centre up and running.

It's called "ICS" Internt connection sharing.

For downloads, if you're using Dial up or 3G it should still be fine, some guys even play on 3G connections. I imagine something like Bad Company might be quite playable.
