Thank you Telkom for your really terrible and pathetic service, lies and excuses.
I know paying expensive fees and calling you to get support is totally out of the question and wrong to do. Because why would a customer deserve such treatment. Just spit on us is what we deserve yes?

My internet speed is constantly fluctuating after being upgraded to 4Mbits. (I just moved to a new place)
Getting between 20-50 KB's >_>
Thats lower than what I used to have at my old house
Least there I had a stable 100-120KB's on a 1Mbit speed.

So I phoned them..

They refused to reset my ports claiming they already just did after 10 seconds. I've never heard of ports being reset within 10 seconds. Now I admit I could very well be wrong and that it is perhaps possible to reset so quickly. But never in my life have I experienced ports being reset so quickly. Usually takes 5 minutes at least The reason I asked for them to do this is because at a previous house, resetting the ports actually fixed the issue after the line speed was upgraded.

However I suspect that my line may be too far from the exchange so the higher speed is making it difficult to sync stably

So I asked them if they are able to tell me how far I am from the exchange. "Nope" But somehow by magic freaking unicorns, they can ONLY find that out if I call from another user's landline in the area >.>

So I have to figure out who's got ADSL in this area, go to their house and be like "HEY THERE NEIGHBOR! I need to use your phone to call my ISP to find out if there are line issues in the area and to find out how far the exchange is man. I know you probably don't know what that is since you're like 70+ if not older.. But please" (I live in a place with a lot of old people around)

I cannot see how calling them from another landline number in the area is going to magically give them the information

Anyway.. I asked if they would slightly tweak my sync speed down by just a little bit to see if that helps my line stable out even if it means losing some of the 4Mbit speed.

"Nope, we can't do that because it'll interfere and confuse people with the upgrades that have been going on recently"
The 4mbit upgrades are done as far as Im aware. Last year infact!

All in all. You are far from being "World Class Service" as you claim to be.

Someone is talking crap.

Call the faults section, ask for a LTS line test and ask the person to tell you how far you are from the exchange, also ask if the line comes up clear or if there are any issues there.

In your routers config page what are your snr, attenuation & sunc values?

This is what it's standing at now.

When I was on the 2Mbit speed, the margin (Down) was around 20-20.5dB
Supposedly according to the guy I was speaking with, he said the exchange and my line seems fine. (claimed to have done a test)

My attenuation values at my old house were a lot higher than they are now as well. And my noise margin (down) was at 32dB usually, and up, I think about 20dB

yesterday, I spoke to their BUSINESS SUPPORT for a client of mine, which you would expect to be a bit more competent...

I asked this Kobus guy, what he would say where the correct figures for a 2mb line synchronization(take note sync speed, not data transfer speed), his reply was, "well if we look at the Telkom website here.. it err.. it says 104KBps"

i calmly and very friendly said no, not the data transfer speed, the layer 1 sync speed, the line connection speed. to which he repeated himself...

eventually he said very rudely and frustrated, maybe he should put me in touch with somebody more technical and proceeded to put me in the residential ADSL support queue.

what a clown.

What a clown indeed...
Most of Telkom is filled with retards now.

Yup >.>

Been day 3.. Still no help after calling Telkom..
Though I managed to get one of them to reset my ports. Sadly to no avail.

But according to the support staff member who did the LTS line test, apparently Im 60 meters from the exchange...
So why my noise margin and such is so low.. yeah >.>

Still having issues sadly. Im going to take a guess that the line is perhaps faulty or something.

Port your line over to Axxess and let them handle Telkoms bullschit.
