Horrible static in left channel headphone only

Hi guys,

I've got a strange issue and wondering if anyone has any ideas of what might be causing it.

I have a NAD T748 AV Receiver, and recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones for some late night tv watching/Xbox sessions.

When I plug the headphones into the AV Receiver, I get some static-y, scratchy sounds coming through the left channel only. This is more apparent when I play Xbox, but I can also hear it when watching DSTV or my WDTV player.

My initial thought was that my headphones were faulty - however when I plug the 598's into my PC, I dont pick up that issue in the left channel, it all sounds pretty good. Likewise when I test with another pair of headphones in my AV receiver, I get the same issue.

All leads me to believe the problem is with the stereo jack on the AV receiver...has anyone experienced anything similar to this before, and if so what was your path to resolution?

could be a dry joint.
try clean it first with a ear bud.
move the headphone jack side way and up and down to proof the jack.

Are you using an adapter from the 6.35 jack to the 3.5 on the headphones?
