Horrible Torrents

I also got the same problem and I am on G9 month to month contract and i also get the same error on utorrent: connection closed by peer
I will also phone the helpdesk tonight.

I got a temporary solution that works but I want it right, Why am I paying R1099 for and they stated that G9 is the best for p2p and torrents

They sent some tech guy to come check out the problem cause it's a problem on my side! And he basically just came to tell me i shouldn't be using torrents. Becuase iburst is not meant for p2p  What the Hell? Before I joined i asked can i use torrents and they said yes! It would work fine!

iBurst related mails as spam...

That's bcos iBurst's mail server is listed on SpamHaus.org and if Spamassassin is set up to check the SBL Advisory, then it's gonna nuke your mail for sure. The easiest is to add a line to Spamassassin's .cf file:
whitelist_from [email protected]

he basically just came to tell me i shouldn't be using torrents.

Had he said that to me I'd have sent him flying back to their offices. F**k them. I am so sick and tired of South African service providers who think they can dictate to the customer what they can or cannot do with the service they are paying dearly for.

I know what the problems is... I hounded iburst like i said i would. And got a answer from one of the higher-ups.

"The P2P service is a shaped service on iBurst therefore we only allocate a portion of the total ISP bandwidth for P2P traffic as most of the other allocation goes to mail and internet access. At the moment there is congestion during the peak hours on the P2P and we are looking at acquiring more bandwidth to alleviate the problem."

Hmmmm but the problem is occurring at ALL HOURS not just peak ones....not to mention why haven't they publically admitted this in the incident report so we can get an ETA of resolution?

So according to iburst All hours are peak hours. And I would quess the problem will be sovled before christmas... Barely :(

What a joke their response is.... I don't buy it!

Not SPEED on the hub but CONNECTIONS on the hub. Meaning you get disconnected (from the hub, not downloads) alot, and connecting to a user is often time consuming but once you get connected things move just as fast.

I've emailed the helpdesk twice, with no response. I think they are deliberately crippling P2P by blocking connections somehow to trackers. This is all fine and well if they don't want us downloading movies, but some of us have legitimate uses such as updating linux distributions or whatever. I'm actually very disappointed that iBurst is being run like this, as an ex-Sentech user I can say with sadness they seem to be getting run into the ground, just like MyWireless was.
