Hi all,

I posted this on Hellopeter (and reposted here to save the typing)

I made the mistake a few years back of using host4africa. I ran into financial problems, and couldnt pay them for web hosting. They ran up a nice bill of about R6000-00 for issuing summons, etc to collect R500-00, yes, R500-00. I had to pay it all and did so over 3 months. I then got a letter from their attorneys confirming the matter has been settled. I recruited an attorney to get the judgement rescinded as I would like to clear my name and enjoy the benefits of a clear name. My attorney tells me now this morning that host4africa refuses to consent to the rescission, and wont give a reason. Further to this, there is no contact number for host4africa.

Given my expected frustrations now, does anyone know how I can contact them? Anyone have a explanation why the bratty attitude of refusing to a rescission?

Anyone can offer any help?

Thanks

I did call her before :D, her name is Jennifer, and if she isnt fronting for host4africa, then bless her soul. Looks like its in the hands of the IT Gods. There should be a ruling body of sorts that can smack these nonsense ISP's for their crap. I cannot imagine how a) they can still be in business, or b) someone would actually rely on host4africa for any SP services.

I can write a thesis on how unethical host4africa is, but would only be frustrating myself. I think if enough complaints arise, we can put this bogus ISP out of business purely by the advertising their true business ethics.

I say it again... STAY AWAY FROM HOST4AFRICA, and if you with them, MOVE AWAY FROM HOST4AFRICA. Go to Afrihost. You will never look back.

.... Hopefully with enough naming and shaming (host4africa) google spiders will pick up on the word and when it is found, people will see the negative reports. Man, it just doesnt seem to be enough....

You should have informed them when you experienced financial difficulties.

Before handing over an account, the plaintiff (Host4Africa) would have explored all options to get in contact with you (normally this is done telephonically / e-mail and registered letters).

Once all options have failed to contact you, the account would be handed over to the attorneys.

They will attempt to contact you and send a registered letter as well. If no response is received, they will proceed with summons, which requires a signature. Note that anyone at your last known address can sign the summons and it will be deemed "delivered".

At this point you still have time contact the attorneys to make payment arrangements. Failure to contact them will result in a "default judgement".

As you can note from the above, you had more than enough opportunities to contact them and explain your situation. So why didn't you?

So in short: Host4Africa is acting within its right and they are under no obligation to agree to a rescission. Note that the credit bureaus will remove the judgement against your name automatically after 5 years.

If you think Afrihost won't take legal action against you in the event that you owe them money, think again. Bad mouthing the service provider won't help your case either.

@arni1954: Go troll somewhere else and stop posting crap.

Captain Morgan.

Firstly, (belated I know) I would like to thank you for pointing out the obvious, how people like me make it through life without people like you to help us point out the obvious, I dont know.

Secondly, I wasnt ranting about about the legal process, but if you werent a troll for host4africa, you wouldnt have posted a response.

As for Afrihost, or any other provider, I again, wouldnt have known they would have taken the same (or similar) action, but I am thankful for helpful people, who give up their precious time to point out the obvious (albeit pointless) on topics.

I think, you possess, what every other flamer poses, that incurable disease, called, iwannabeheardnomatterwhateritis, or you are some host4africa fanboy.

Either way, I am curious, is host4africa still operating???

As for the judgement being removed, in my case, it is in October this year, but there is also a very good possibility that it could be removed next month due to some or other legislation, I didnt get all the details from my attorney, but I suspect it has something to do with little prick demigods who think that they can have a hold over people who have paid their debt.

Anyhoo. I am done with my little bout of iwannabeheardnomatterwhateritis, I await your intelligent response, flame.

But please understand before you reply, I am only now going to entertain your responses (or any pro host4africa responses) to keep the topic hot, and maybe increase the google ranking, and because I can take 10 minutes out of my day to be a stubborn ass.

With an attitude like that...no wonder you've got blacklisted in the first place...

It has been now more than 3 months since I finally managed to cancel Host4Africa's dreadful (non) hosting service. It was a pain from day one when it came to the unclear invoices and lack of storage space.

Eventually I increased mailbox size, to no avail. Mailbox full was the common failure message my contacts got. I made sure you had plenty of my money to secure outstanding funds have been paid for well in advance That I won’t get the “you have 2 days to pay, else we cancel our services”.

At last I ended up with another provider (Thank you G oo gle!) and it works ever since. You still owe me money “which you never wanted” and instead of transferring that into my new account, you request proof of residence and copy of ID – after I waited patiently for 3 months.

I don’t reside in SA anymore and insist that you transfer the owing funds (which I had to wait for for 3 month, because it’s “your” policy) and you never asked for that money.

Well, guess what: it’s my policy to get that money back, and since you mentioned things you never wanted: I never wanted a hosting service that sucks. Now: where is the money?
